Rasmus Rasmussen, also known as Regin í Líð and Rasmus á Háskúlanum, was a Faroese folk high school teacher, writer, and independence activist.

Mikkjal Dánjalsson á Ryggi var en færøsk lærer, forfatter og politiker (SF). Han var bosat i Gásadalur det meste af sit liv. Han var borgmester i Miðvágs kommuna 1915–1919, indvalgt i Lagtinget fra Vágar 1924–1928 og formand for Føroya Lærarafelag 1930–1933. Mikkjal á Ryggi er desuden kendt for sine mange salmer og skildringer af færøsk arbejdsliv.

Nólsoyar Páll is a Faroese national hero. He was a seaman, trader, poet, farmer and boat builder who tried to develop direct trade between the Faroes and the rest of Europe and introduced vaccination to the islands. He went missing in the winter of 1808–1809 sailing home from England.
